Senator Prosper tours Mi’kma’ki, embarks on a “listening tour” to help focus work in the Senate
On February 20th, 2024, the office of the Honourable Senator Paul Prosper circulated the following press release:
Senator Paul “PJ” Prosper, a proud Mi’kmaq Senator, is embarking on a tour of the traditional territory of the Mi’kmaq people known collectively as Mi’kma’ki. Over the course of 4 weeks, spread out over Senate non-sitting weeks, Senator Prosper will be engaging with Chiefs and Council, Regional Chiefs, community members, elders, youth, local leaders and Indigenous organizations to learn more about their priorities and issues. These insights will then inform a report that will, in turn, guide the Senator in his work within the Senate. Senator Prosper’s Mi’kma’ki Tour 2024 began in Newfoundland and PEI from February 16-21. He will be touring the Nova Scotia mainland from March 5-11; Gaspé and New Brunswick from April 1-5; and Cape Breton from May 13-17.
