Emergency Management Operations (EMO) is a sub-department of Anqotum Resource Management. EMO is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing strategies to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies or disasters. Our primary objective is to safeguard our First Nation communities during crisis situations.
What We Do
Helping individuals and communities plan for and mitigate potential emergency events.
How Do We Do This?
- Through risk assessments.
- By helping communities develop Incident Management Plans.
- By encouraging risk-awareness and household Emergency Plans.
Working quickly with Emergency Management Coordinators to address emergencies and restore continuity of operations.
How Do We Do This?
- By assessing emergency situations and providing guidance to communities and Emergency Management Coordinators
- By ensuring that important information is circulated in a timely and effective manner.
- By helping community leaders and Emergency Management Coordinators activate emergency response plans and mobilize resources.
- By helping community leaders and Emergency Management Coordinators to facilitate recovery following an incident or disaster.
Sharing relevant information and expertise to enhance emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
How Do We Do This?
- Through our mass notification system, Community Connect.
- By having crisis communication plans in place.
- By having points of contact in place for crisis and non-crisis situations.
Improving a community’s ability to respond to and manage emergency situations.
How Do We Do This?
- By providing training opportunities to Emergency Management Coordinators, community leaders, and the public.
- By coordinating Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for the mental and spiritual well-being of those involved in critical incidents.
Working with First Nations throughout Atlantic Canada to host an Atlantic Emergency Management Conference in New Brunswick.
